The eastern and western beaches
BEACHES

Along the coast of Caorle, which extends for over 10 km in length, you will find equipped swimming facilities, games for children, fly rental, kayaks and paddleboards. You can also participate in the many activities organized by the Consorzio Arenili di Caorle. At the ends of the eastern and western beaches, there are areas reserved for four-legged friends. In fact, for those who want to rent a beach place to stop and swim with their dog, there are dedicated beaches: the Bau Beach.

The cathedral of Caorle
CHURCH, MONUMENT

The Cathedral of Caorle, dedicated to St. Stephen, is located in Piazza Vescovado, in the historic center. The ancient church, in Roman-Byzantine style, was built on the ruins of a previous early Christian Basilica and was completed in 1038. Inside there is a Golden Altarpiece of the thirteenth century. You can visit the Liturgical Museum located next to the cathedral or climb the bell tower, unique in its kind for the particular conical spire and always a symbol of Caorle. The view from up there, at a height of 48 meters, is worth the effort of climbing the 80 steep steps.

The Church of Our Lady of the Angel
CHURCH, MONUMENT

The sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Angelo is located halfway between the east and west coasts. The small church overlooking the sea preserves an ancient wooden statue of the Madonna and Child, to which the fishermen of Caorle are very devoted. Legend has it that the statue floated off the cliff of Caorle on a marble pedestal, without sinking, and that only children had managed to bring it to shore. According to popular tradition, the presence of the sculpture also prevented the sanctuary from flooding during the violent storm of 1727. Every five years in Caorle, there is the procession of the Madonna dell'Angelo. The statue is transported by sea on board a Caorlina, the rowing boat typical of the Venetian lagoon. The fishermen's boats and the bragozzi follow her, in a subsequent procession.

The Living Cliff
ART

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Caorle is undoubtedly the promenade along the seafront that leads from the beginning of the historic center to the church of the Madonna dell'Angelo. Along the white cliff you can admire the sculptures made by artists all over de world who sculpted the rocks: a real open-air museum that is renewed over time thanks to the addition of new work. The incessant exchange between man, art and nature amount this splendid route has earned the name of Scogliera Viva.

The fishing port
TRADITIONAL ACTIVITY

The fishing port is one of the most fascinating points of Caorle. Waking up early for a walk, here you can meet fishermen returning from night fishing with boxes full of fish. The afternoon, on the other hand, is dedicated to cleaning and repairing the fishing nets, sometimes until the evening. The Caorlina, the boat that is the protagonist of the procession by sea of the Madonna dell'Angelo, is also docked at the port.

Cycle on the cycle path that runs along the Palangon canal and you will discover an enchanting itinerary between nature and history. Take your time to admire the beauty of the Caorle lagoon and visit the casoni, the typical marsh reed houses where fishermen once lived. By reservation you can also have lunch inside the Cason Grottolo or live the experience of an excursion by motorboat or on a fishing boat in the lagoon.

The oasis of Vallevecchia

The oasis of Vallevecchia, in the locality of Brussa is a stretch of coast of great interest from a naturalistic point of view that extends for over 900 hectares. Here you can admire numerous species of birds thanks to the towers dedicated to birdwatching. Cross the dunes and the pine forest on horseback or simply enjoy the wild beach and crystal clear waters. The oasis is also home to the MAV, the Environmental Museum of Vallevecchia, which tells the story of the oasis. Inside, an ancient casone has been faithfully reproduced.

The village of Ca’ Corniani
FOOD AND WINE
3 Km from Caorle

About 3 km from Caorle is the village of Ca' Corniani. The winery is well worth a visit for a wine tasting by reservation. Near the winery is the cycle station where you can rent a bike and pedal along the evocative cycle path of the estate, admiring the works of art by Alberto Garutti that delimit the three entrances of the route.

Cycle routes in the lagoon

There is more than one route for those who love cycling along the lagoon. Starting from Caorle and following the different cycle routes, you can explore the towns of Brian and Strada Tezzon and the maritime towns of Eraclea and Cortellazzo or go further, up to Concordia Sagittaria and Portogruaro.
